The online role playing game Chainmonsters will launch its pre-alpha version in the beginning of August on Steam, iOS and Android with cross-platform functionality. On each platform players will login using the same account. This means that players can play the game on PC, and continue playing on their phone when in public transit, on the toilet or enjoying a vacation on the beach.
Game studio B-Side Games sees the cross-platform availability of Chainmonsters as just one of the ways to reach a bigger audience. The Pokémon-inspired online game will also be free to play, while players have full ownership over all in-game items. This includes resources, creatures and even the player character.
Chainmonsters uses the upcoming Flow blockchain. B-Side Games is planning to officially announce the game’s release date next week. In addition they will have information about the pre-sale, which gives gamers early access, additional rewards and more insight into the game’s development.
What is Chainmonsters?
Chainmonsters is a massively multiplayer online role playing game inspired by classic games like The Legend of Zelda and Pokémon. However, players will be competing against each other. Every player is an agent working for a corporation. There’s a mysterious disease that makes all creatures more aggressive, and there’s a weird crystal in the world. Guess who needs to find out? But can players trust the corporation? Who knows.
Directly on launch, the game will introduce a season pass with timed events and event exclusive content. B-Side Games is planning a Kickstarter campaign for physical goodies. The game is running on the Flow blockchain, which should provide easy on-boarding for users not familiar with blockchain technology.
Players won’t even notice there’s blockchain technology involved. However, once they dive deeper into the game they will be able to claim their wallet and everything they’ve collected. This can then be kept, sold or given away through the Flow blockchain and an open peer-to-peer marketplace. More about Chainmonsters here.
