Blockade Games revealed the first fourteen blockchain assets supported in their upcoming blockchain-powered idle online multiplayer boss fight Metaboss. This list includes both game assets and other types of tokenized assets, including art and domain names. They are now asking the community for more suggestions.
They have included projects like for example Axie Infinity, Neon District, Gods Unchained, SuperRare, Ethereum Name Service (that’s the .eth domain names) and The Sandbox. Blockade Games will be adding more blockchain assets to the boss battle as they prepare Metaboss for launch. They plan to release the idle boss fight on May 14th.
Metaboss will give a second use-case to existing tokens by given them a certain amount of power. Players will choose a faction and then their tokens will add power to that faction. In the end the most successful faction will win rewards.
What is Metaboss?
They announced Codename: Metaboss in early March. The blockchain game promised to be the biggest boss fight in gaming history. It unites creatures and characters from different gaming universes in one gigantic battle. Players will use all non-fungible tokens in their wallets. This includes items from games like for example Axie Infinity, Cryptokitties, Gods Unchained, The Sandbox and Decentraland. Each NFT represents a certain amount of power.
Codename: Metaboss is playable in a browser. In order to start playing, gamers need to have Metamask or Portis installed, because that’s how the user’s Ethereum wallet will connect to the game.
Three phases during the week
The week will start with a recruitment phase, during which players choose their factions. In Codename: Metaboss the game will check for non-fungible tokens (NFTs) in the crypto wallet. Each NFT affects a faction differently, and the number of rewards are calculated based on the amount of people that join a faction.
After the recruitment phase, the second half of the week starts. This is known as The Showdown. During this phase players have access to infiltration, analysis and assault. Through voting they can choose their faction’s strategy. Even when it’s not your faction’s turn, you can play defensive options. Players get to pick actions every hour.
Every Sunday a new chapter will start and rewards will be distributed. The story unfolds based on player choices. Then, on Monday, the recruitment phase will start again. This whole process will last two weeks, after which Codename: Metaboss will probably be beaten.
Obviously this game won’t be as visual as many other games, but it does highlight the true potential of interoperability. It allows one game to use tokens from over one hundred other games!
