Blockchain game development studio Chainwise is doing another auction for virtual celebrity fighters for their upcoming mobile fighting game Chain Clash Arcade. Influencers from the blockchain industry like John McAfee and Brock Pierce are among the characters gamers can bid on. The auction ends on Thursday April 2nd, at 04:00 UTC.
Investors and gamers can to bid on the characters using EOS. Chain Clash is build on that blockchain. For example, in this auction there are five out of the total supply of thirty John Mcafee Legendary Edition characters available. The top five bid will win a character.
At the moment one John McAfee costs 1.5 EOS (approximately $3.30), while the bids for Crystal Rose are between 0.70 and 1.20 EOS. It’s highly likely that prices will go up dramatically when the auction reaches its final moments.
What is Chain Clash Arcade?
Chain Clash Arcade is a free-to-play blockchain-powered fighting game. Each player picks a faction belonging to one of the major cryptocurrencies, like for example Bitcoin, Ethereum, EOS or Tron. With their fighting characters, they take on other factions to claim superiority.
Each players gets a basic characters, but those who are invested in the game can buy an unique character. These non-fungible tokens can be leveled up, traded, and sold on the public marketplace.
The fighting game works with earlier released blockchain avatar collecting game Chain Clash. As a result gamers can use their old avatars in the newly announced fighting game Chain Clash Arcade.
John McAfee sold for almost $2000
Two months ago a digital game character of cyber-security and crypto expert John McAfee sold for $1993. The owner can use the one-of-a-kind mythic digital character in Chain Clash Arcade. Ten less unique versions of McAfee sold for prices between 15 and 30 dollars in an auction that ended in February. The auction that’s going on right now is for an even less rare version of the same character.
The Mythic avatar of John McAfee was the third Mythic avatar of the Genesis Edition in an pre-sale auction. The auction followed earlier sales of two other mythic avatars: Crystal Rose and Brock Pierce. The Brock Pierce avatar is still the most expensive one, sold for 1731 EOS. This was more than five thousand dollars at the time.
What are non-fungible tokens?
Blockchain games are still very niche and not many people know about non-fungible tokens or NFTs. Blockchain games have a major potential to reach a mainstream audience during the early 2020s, and digital ownership over non-fungible tokens will help with that.
Non-fungible tokens are digital tokens stored on a blockchain. These represents ownership over a certain asset. Through these tokens people have ownership over digital or physical assets. These can be virtual swords in a video game, or physical assets like real-estate or art. NFTs can be anything:
- Redemption codes, gifts or coupons
- Tickets for concerts, cinemas, and other events
- To underline the authenticity of products, including art, real estate and fashion.
- And of course for digital collectibles and in-game assets.
Non-fungible tokens represent ownership over an item, and this item can be for one-time use or for eternity and physical or digital. Above everything these non-fungible tokens can be represented as a graphic inside an app. This can be a concert ticket in a special app, or a virtual sword inside a game. Because an NFT is graphic by nature, it makes it very easy to understand.
