The third auction of Star Trek-themed space ships for the game Crypto Space Commander was not as successful as the first two. An anonymous gamer or crypto investor bought The I.K.S. Rotarran IKC-62127 for 22.5 ETH, which is a little bit over 4304 US dollar. As a result this has been the cheapest Star Trek auction for Crypto Space Commander so far.
The two previous auctions were a lot more lucrative. The first one gathered 15 thousand dollars, while the second ship sold for $30.800. Currently the fourth auction is already running. Just like the other auctions the U.S.S. Rio Grande is being sold according to Dutch auction. This means the price starts high and drops until someone buys the auctioned product. The price starts at $200.000 and goes down.
The auctioned space ships can also be obtained in Star Trek supply crates. When buying these crates players are never certain which space ship they will get. Visually the auctioned ships are identical to the ones from the crates, but the only difference is that the auctioned ships come with unlimited replication. This means that they can never be permanently destroyed. The ships bought in crates can be destroyed in-game.
More Star Trek auctions coming
Game developer Lucid Sight is doing multiple Dutch auctions this month. In the coming weeks three more space ships will be auctioned. The highlight will probably be the U.S.S. Voyager NCC-74656 that goes on sale on September 26th. Each of these ships has a special ability. The Voyager will be able to activate Ablative Armor, while the Enterprise is equipped with Phaser technology.
Besides the six space ship auctions gamers can buy Star Trek supply crates. These give players a chance to win one of the space ships at random, and guarantee players at least four random themed modules for their space ship. Each supply crate costs around 25 dollars. Gamers need to hurry, because supply is limited: only 3905 left.
