An ATM manufacturer and a cryptocurrency vending machine firm are going to work together to sell bitcoins at tens of thousands regular ATMs in the United States. In this case bitcoin can be bought with just a regular debit card. Bitcoin ATM company LibertyX and ATM manufacturer Genmega are working to make this happen. They announced this last week.
Genmega caters independent ATM deployers. So it will be up to these operators whether they want to install the new software and provide this new service to their customers.
Currently the United States is a world leader when it comes to bitcoin vending machines. There are nearly 2330 access points in the country. Especially major urban areas like Los Angeles, Miami, Chicago and New York are well provided with over 100 vending points each.
Worldwide there are more than 3800 bitcoin vending machines. Ever day at least five new ones are being added.
