Dutch game studio Codeglue will be working on an action game build on blockchain technology. The game is called Crown of Carnage and this is an online multiplayer game in which two teams of wizards battle in a dungeon to earn their team a crown. The blockchain part of the game is build into the spell cards each wizard selects before battle. The game studio won a pitch at blockchain company Alto, which earned the Rotterdam based studio 20.000 USD in cash, the same amount in Alto Coin and 30.000 USD in marketing support including an initial item offering. As was reported by industry magazine Control.
The initial item offering is a way to crowdfund the video game even further. Spell cards from the game can be pre-ordered on a website, later on they also want to offers skins and other cosmetics in their multiplayer online action game. In Crown of Carnage each wizard gets to select six spell cards before battle. These cards will determine the abilities of their character. Some of these cards and skins will be tokenized on the blockchain. Players will be able to trade, sell or lend these to others.
At the moment Crown of Carnage is only a prototype from a game jam. “The real work is just getting started”, studio boss Peter de Jong said in a statement to Control. There is no ETA yet on when Crown of Carnage should be a finished product.
