The Uzbekistan government is giving cryptocurrency companies, including exchanges, all kinds of benefits when they would move to the country. Foreign crypto exchanges would get all kinds of benefits. Crypto related income would not be taxed, there are not foreign currency regulations and these exchanges would not be subject to the Uzbekistan securities and exchanges regulations. This all came from an order issued by president Shavkat Mirziyoev on September 2nd.
Of course there are a couple of rules to abide. Foreign exchanges can only get a license if they setup a subsidiary in Uzbekistan. An exchange also needs to have roughly 700 thousand dollars capital, servers need to be placed in Uzbekistan, and of course there need to be anti-money laundering procedures in place. Transactions and personal data from users need to be stored for at least five years, which is not something the would benefit many crypto traders.
Interestingly enough, the order also benefits miners. Miners who require 100 kWh of power, can get land without requiring an auction. Obviously these lands are at specially designed territories. The order came after the country made comments earlier this year, to increase its position in the world of crypto.
