Bitcoin Gold was created on October 24th as a hard fork from the Bitcoin blockchain. Bitcoin Gold does a couple of things different from its bigger brother, but there are also some simularities. Just like Bitcoin, BTG has a cap of 21 million coins. But Bitcoin Gold can be mined with a GPU because it uses the Equihash algorithm. This is basically the biggest different from Bitcoin, which makes mining easier for homebrew miners. The block time is the same as Bitcoin, as well as the block size. This means that transaction times are not essentially faster than BTC. Adjustments to the difficulty settings of the network’s calculations, are done on every block. This means it adjusts better to demand and is a bit more flexible.
- Can be mined with a GPU
- A bit more flexible in mining, but not faster in transactions
