Crypto exchange Binance is going to work together with the Malta Stock Exchange (MSX) to start security token trading. CFO Wei Zhou signed an agreement of understanding with MSX chairman Joe Portelli, as reported by the Malta Today.
The Malta Stock Exchange realizes there’s a risk tied to crypto. “This is not an excuse to let it go by and be taken up by others,” said Finance minister Edward Scicluna to the newspaper. The country sees it as an opportunity to position itself even more at the center of blockchain technology. Malta is already labelled as ‘Blockchain Island’.
Malta is implementing new regulations to deal with new technologies. Scicluna stressed to need to battle money laundering and respecting consumer rights. “We look forward to seeing this exciting new market opportunity develop admonish the boundaries of the Maltese financial sector,” MSX chairman Portelli added.
